Health Net of California has announced that all of their 2016 individual and family health plans will roll into 2017. There will be no plan closures making it easier for current members to renew their health plan for the 2017 calendar year. In letters being sent out on September 30, Health Net will be offering a $50 gift card as a reward for certain healthy initiatives on the member’s part.
No Health Net plan closures
Health Net will continue to offer health plans through Covered California and off-exchange. Their plan availability is concentrated in the Sacramento region, Bay Area, and greater Southern California region. Covered California plan offerings will be limited to Healthcare Service Plans (HSP), Exclusive Provider Organizations (EPO) and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO). In Southern California where they are offering their on-exchange HMO product, the Bronze and Minimum Coverage plans will be HSPs. All of Health Net’s Covered California plans are also available off-exchange, directly from Health Net.
2017 Health Net PPO plans off-exchange
If consumers wish to enroll in the Health Net Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan they must do so directly with Health Net. They will not be made available through Covered California. Health Net announced important updates to their plans for 2017.
EPO: primary care physician required. Members who renew of choose and EPO plan for 2017 must choose a primary care physician (PCP). They will continue having the flexibility to go directly to any provider in the PureCare One EPO network. This change results from a new Covered California requirement, and is being implemented to their EPO plans available through Covered California and directly with Health Net.
Covered California members need to validate enrollment for 2017. If members do not receive a renewal notice directly from Covered California, they should contact Covered California or their agent to ensure they are covered for 2017. Without this validation, Health Net is required to move members to a plan available directly through Health Net. If members are currently receiving a premium tax credit, or are on a plan with cost-sharing reductions, they will lose that financial assistance.
Important network change for 2017. Beginning January 1, 2017, covered services obtained from Non-Preferred or Preferred providers outside of California will not be covered, except for urgent care or emergency services. This means members will no longer be able to obtain services through the First Health Network for covered services outside of California. Members will continue to have coverage for urgent care and emergency services obtained out-of-state at In-Network (Preferred) provider cost share.
Certain plan members will be eligible for a $50 gift card
Get a $50 gift card reward for investing in your health. Members must complete a Health Risk Questionnaire (HRQ) in 2017, schedule an annual preventive care physical exam and share the HRQ report with the PCP. After the PCP visit, members can log back in to the online account and complete the Primary Care Physician From to confirm they have shared the results with their PCP. Health Net will then send a $50 gift certificate valid at hundreds of popular retailers.
