Notifying Dually-Enrolled Medicare and Healthcare.gov Consumers
Consumers who are identified as enrolled in MEC Medicare and a Marketplace plan through Medicare PDM should return to their Marketplace application and end their Marketplace coverage or Marketplace financial assistance. Consumers may have to pay back all or some of the APTC paid on their behalf for months they had both Marketplace coverage with APTC and MEC Medicare, when they file their federal income tax return.
Covered California Extends 2017 Open Enrollment With Agent Support
Open Enrollment for 2017 coverage with a Covered California Health Plan ends on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Covered California is allowing consumers who attempted to enroll by January 31 an extra four days to complete enrollment and select their health plan. Some consumers may face challenges completing enrollment and Covered California is committed to helping all consumers who attempted to find help cross the enrollment finish line.
Covered California Website Updates for 2017
Covered California has updated and changed various parts of their online health insurance enrollment website for 2017. These changes, launched with the release of the CalHEERS 16.9 build, will affect new enrollments and individuals and families renewing their health insurance for 2017. New Covered California Health Plan Selection Page for 2017
Covered California will have a new Health Plan Selection page for consumers for 2017 health insurance selection. They have streamlined some of the introductory pages, enhanced the filters for plan selection, and dropped some of the legal notices during check out. A video reviewing some of the enhancements has been posted by Covered California called Shop & Compare Walkthrough.
Covered California melts down during renewal period
As Covered California began to allow consumers to renew their health insurance for 2016 the online enrollment system has ceased to operate. They issued an Agent Alert on Thursday at 2:45pm.
Covered California releases demographic and enrollment data
Covered California also released data on the ethnicity of its enrollment population, which illustrates the positive enrollment trends seen over the last 18 months. While Covered California is increasingly improving its enrollment to better reflect the diversity of subsidy-eligible Californians, this improvement will take time to be fully reflected in active membership, which accounts for all the consumers enrolled since January 2014.
