When a woman completes an Application for Coverage with Covered California and checks the box to indicate she is pregnant, she should be given the option to stay on a Covered California plan. Instead, the system is moving some women in low-income ranges to Medi-Cal.
Incorrect 1095-A from Blue Shield and Covered California
We are writing to let you know that due to a system error, one or more of your Blue Shield of California customers received two different 1095-A forms from Covered California. The information in the first form they received was correct.
2016 Income table for Covered California
Covered California has updated their income table for qualifying for either the premium assistance or Medi-Cal. The new income amounts reflect the modest increase to the federal poverty levels (FPL) which is the foundation for premium assistance. The new income amounts only apply to individuals and families who will apply for health insurance through Covered California for 2016. Households who renewed their coverage in 2015 or enrolled during open enrollment for 2016 are not affected by the higher income levels in most situations.
March 10th deadline for Covered California Conditional Eligibility verification
Consumers began to receive a Covered California notice February 2016 as a reminder that they need to provide documents to prove they are eligible to continue their health insurance and/or financial assistance through Covered California. The first round of this conditional eligibility notice was sent to those consumers with a coverage start date of January 1, 2016.
New vision insurance plans offered through Covered California
Beginning today, visitors to CoveredCA.com can access VSP via a link, which will take the consumer to VSP’s website. Once on the VSP website, consumers will work directly with VSP to shop for vision benefits and see what coverage options are best for their situation.
Covered California Special Enrollment Instructions for 2016
Covered California has released instructions for navigating the Special Enrollment Periods consumers are eligible for when they have a qualifying event. It’s important that the online application be filled out a certain way for different qualifying events.
Covered California extends agent assisted consumer enrollment until February 6
While open enrollment for individual and family insurance ends January 31, 2016, Covered California is granting Certified Insurance Agents the ability to enroll consumers in health plans until February 6. Covered California sent out an Agent Alert notifying Certified Insurance Agents that they can still help consumers who missed the January 31st deadline to enroll in health insurance for 2016 without a qualifying event for a Special Enrollment Period.
Covered California 2015 1095-A support documentation
Covered California has released a variety of documents to support agents and enrollers with assisting consumers with 1095-A questions. Included in the files are the letter of 1095-A notification being sent to consumer, a quick reference chart, and a job aid on where to find a consumer’s 1095-A online.
Health Net Covered California missing enrollments
Health Net is continuing to reach out to our Individual & Family Plan (IFP) members who do not appear in Covered California’s files. This effort began in December when we first learned of the data mismatch from Covered California.
Covered California Small Business Plans Expand to 100 Employees
The definition of a small business in California has expanded to include groups with 1-100 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees. Second, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) employer mandate now requires businesses with at least 50 full-time equivalent employees to provide health coverage for their employees and dependents or face a tax penalty.
