All of the health plans Oscar offers through Covered California will be mirrored off-exchange. The off-exchange mirrored plans are called the Classic series and include the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Minimum Coverage standard health plan design.
Oscar Health Plan Information for 2017
Oscar is expanding their health plan availability into San Francisco County for 2017. They will continue to serve part of Los Angeles and all of Orange counties. They have notified members enrolled in some of their 2016 off-exchange plans that they will no longer be offered. The Simple Silver, Simple Gold, Simple Platinum, and Simple+ Platinum will not be offered in 2017. Individuals and families in these health plans must select a new health plan no later than December 31, with Oscar to maintain coverage.

Covered California has released their 2017 Regional Rate and Plan Information summary. This summary has a more in-depth focus specific consumer market information than does their 2017 Health Plan Booklet. While the target audience is Certified Application Counselors and Agents, there is also some very useful information for consumers.
Oscar extends California enrollment deadline until December 31st
Oscar has extended the deadline to enroll into their off-exchange health plans in California until December 31st for a January 1st effective start date. This is in addition to Covered California extending the deadline for enrollment into all on-exchange plans through December 17th. Oscar will offer both the standard benefit design plan offered through Covered California and their non-standard off-exchange benefit design plans for during the extended enrollment period. Health Plans purchased directly from Oscar are not eligible for the Advance Premium Tax Credit subsidy to lower the monthly health insurance premium.
Oscar California 2016 health plan documents
Oscar has posted plan specific documents relating to their California individual and family on and off exchange plans. These documents will help educate consumers about the Oscar health plans. In particular, consumers should carefully review and understand Oscar’s Simple and Simple Plus series of non-standard, off-exchange health plans quite different from the standard benefit design. Oscar will be offering plans in Region 16, Southwest Los Angeles County, and Region 18, Orange County.
