CMS identified violations of Part D formulary and benefit administration requirements that resulted in UnitedHealth’s enrollees experiencing inappropriate denials of and/or delayed access to Part D prescription drugs at the point of sale. UnitedHealth’s violations include:
United Healthcare Will Not Change Transgender Coverage
UnitedHealthcare is not changing its coverage of treatment for gender dysphoria as a result of the preliminary injunction issued on Dec. 31, 2016, by the U.S. District Court in Texas. UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual coverage of treatment for gender dysphoria will remain consistent with the members’ applicable benefit plan language.
Orlando shooting UHC counseling response
UnitedHealthcare and Optum, the health benefits and services companies of UnitedHealth Group, are taking immediate action to support people affected by the recent mass shooting at a nightclub in Orlando. The company is opening Optum’s Help Line, providing affected residents access to specially trained mental health specialists.
UnitedHealthcare files for small group rate decreases
UnitedHealthcare has filed for a small group rate decrease with the California Department of Insurance. The new rates would be effective October 1, 2016. The new UnitedHealthcare rates are for the Select, Select Plus, Core, and Non-Differential insurance plan products.
UHC looks to leave California exchange in 2017
Next year UnitedHealthcare will offer individual plans through the Exchange in a limited number of states. This change in market footprint reflects our longstanding goal to offer products that are both affordable for consumers and financially sustainable for our company.
United Healthcare to expand virtual doctor visits
Earlier this year UnitedHealthcare announced coverage for virtual care provider visits would be available to some self-funded customers in 2015. Additional plans for expansion in 2016 include upon renewal, self-funded customers and fully insured customers when we have approval from your state’s regulatory body.
