WHA announces 2016 small group changes

Workforce size and employer shared responsibility

Whether an you are an applicable large employer, and are therefore subject to the employer shared responsibility provisions, depends on the size of the your workforce. The vast majority of employers fall below the workforce size threshold and, therefore, are not subject to the employer shared responsibility provisions.

Anthem Blue Cross drops SEP online applications

Anthem Blue Cross will accept only paper applications for special enrollment in individual plans sold off the exchange. Online applications for plans sold off the exchange during a special enrollment period (SEP) are no longer accepted.

Blue Shield releases 2016 California health plan information

Blue Shield released information and documents relating to their California individual and family plans (IFP) for 2016. They have dropped their 2015 Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) plans that offered no out-of-network coverage. All Blue Shield of California IFPs will be PPO with their Exclusive PPO Network of providers. Blue Shield will also be expanding coverage areas to offer plans in the counties of Alpine, Monterey, Sutter and Yuba counties in 2016.

Sutter Health Plus announces expansion into Bay Area

Great news for the Bay Area—we’ve received state regulatory approval to offer individual, family and employer group health plans in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco and San Mateo, and parts of Santa Clara effective Oct. 1, 2015.

New California online healthcare price and quality tool released

Commissioner Jones directed the California Department of Insurance to obtain federal Affordable Care Act grant funds to enhance transparency in healthcare pricing. Commissioner Jones then partnered with UCSF and Consumer Reports to create California Healthcare Compare (HealthcareCompare.insurance.ca.gov), a first step in achieving cost and quality transparency in California’s healthcare marketplace.

Anthem Blue Cross California releases 2016 individual and family plan material

The exclusive provider organization (EPO) is now a tiered preferred provider organization (PPO) plan. Members on 2015 EPO plans will be transitioned to Tiered PPO plans effective 1/1/16 (unless they choose a different plan).

CaliforniaChoice releases ACA group calculators
