Anthem and Castlight Health announce new collaboration
Anthem and Castlight Health, Inc., leaders in health care management, today announced their expanded collaboration that will help employers and consumers make smarter health care spending decisions. During the first three years of the new collaboration, both companies will focus on offering new products and innovative cost and quality tools that make health care choices more transparent and easier to understand.
“Access to price and quality information is essential in helping consumers make more informed and personalized health care decisions,” said Brian Griffin, executive vice president and president of Anthem’s Commercial and Specialty business. “Consumer data, coupled with Castlight’s innovative, consumer-friendly web and mobile solutions, has the potential to transform how the industry provides cost and quality information to millions of consumers.”
Why did Anthem and Castlight enter into this new agreement?
For nearly 10 years, Anthem has been a pioneer in helping our members get access to better cost and quality information. While we initially focused on using our own technology to do this, we now feel that working with a technology partner can accelerate our ability to meet client and member needs. Castlight has emerged as a leading provider of highly engaging and configurable transparency solutions, and has launched a broader suite of products that help employers optimize delivery of benefits and help individuals make better choices for their health.
What does this agreement mean for consumers?
Anthem members will experience greater usability, more integration, and an enhanced digital experience. We expect this will result in higher engagement; members will be more aware of the treatment choices before them, and they’ll be closer to our other programs, like telemedicine, care management and wellness programs.
What will the consumer experience be like?
This initiative will replace our internally developed provider directory, Estimate Your Cost tool and patient reviews system with a market leading integrated solution powered by Castlight. Offering an integrated experience that integrates cost, quality and provider details will result in our members having a more intuitive experience and arm them with the information they need to make better decisions and spend health care dollars more wisely.
When will the integrated solution be available?
Implementation activities will begin immediately and will roll out in phases to Anthem members beginning in early third quarter 2016.
