Health Net has announced their lineup of individual and family plans for 2018 in California. They will be closing some plans and offering a new PPO plan. They will be offering most all of their plans on exchange through Covered California. Health Net’s PPO plan, with a larger provider network, will only be offered off-exchange. They will also be launching a new website www.MyHealthNetCA.com to support the individual and family market in California. Download the Health Net file at the end of the post for a full list of plans by region.
HMO Plans
All 2017 individual and family HMO plans will be renewed, or migrated to a similar plan, in all currently served regions in 2018. Health Net has added a new Teladoc $0 copayment benefit to their CommunityCare HMO plans. Beginning in January 2018, Health Net will replace the existing pharmacy network with the Advanced Choice Pharmacy Network. The new network will NOT include Walgreens.
HSP Plans
Platinum, Gold, and Silver Health Service Plans will be discontinued in all regions. The Bronze and minimum coverage plans will be renewed in Kern, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, and San Diego counties. They will be discontinued in all other regions.
EPO Plans
All of the Health Net 2017 PureCare Exclusive Provider Organization health plans will be renewed or migrated to a similar plan in all regions in 2018. Stanford hospital and physician group will no longer be a part of the PureCare One EPO network. Pediatric dental services obtained out-of-network will no longer be honored.
PPO Plans
All of the 2017 PPO health insurance plans will be renewed in 2018 for all the regions currently being served. The mental and behavioral health benefits will be administered by MHN. PPO plans are only offered off-exchange.
New EnhancedCare PPO
Not to be confused with the straight Health Net PPO plans, the new EnhancedCare PPO will be offered on-exchange through Covered California and off-exchange in 2018. The new EnhancedCare PPO through Covered California will be offered in the counties of Sacramento, Yolo, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego. It will have partial coverage in the counties of Placer, Riverside, and San Bernardino. In those same regions, Health Net will offer additional off-exchange plans of Gold Value and Silver Value. The EnhancedCare PPO plans will have a smaller provider network than the straight PPO plans.
Health Net will begin sending out a series of member letters to apprise them of the changes.
- September 29th: letters indicating that the member’s plan is being closed.
- October 20th: EPO and PPO renewal letters.
- October 30th: HMO and HSP renewal letters.
- November 17th: 30-day reminder letters
Open enrollment begins November 1st and will close January 31st, 2018. Members enrolled through Covered California should confirm their renewal/enrollment for 2018 prior to December 15th, the last day for enrollment into health insurance for an effective date of January 1, 2018. Individuals and families who are enrolled in a health plan that is being closed must actively enroll in another plan through Covered California. Those households will not be automatically renewed into a new plan. Without an enrollment selection, the family may have no health insurance at the beginning of 2018. Off-exchange members who have plans being closed will be migrated to a similar plan if the household has not changed their plan for 2018.
