Our hearts are with the victims of the fires burning in our California communities. We are grateful to the many health care providers who are helping treat victims of the fires and the first responders assuring their safety. WHA has information and resources for our members who have been evacuated or impacted because of the fire.
In response to our membership affected by the fires in Northern California, we are taking measures as noted below.
Website – we have a resource page on our website specific to those impacted by the wild fires that includes:
- Early Refills with Express Scripts – Emergency supplies of destoyed or lost medications can be obtained from the member’s pharmacy or from Express Scripts.
- Counseling Services with Magellan Health – Free, confidential counseling services are available to all WHA members. Magellan will also assist members with referrals to local non-profit organizations, shelters and additional community-based support to assist individuals as they work to cope with the feelings of fear, sadness, anger and hopelessness related to these kinds of natural disasters.
- Nurse 24 & Disease Management with Optum Health – WHA’s nurse advice line, Nurse 24, is available for consultation at 877.793.3655. Registered nurses have information on the current status of the fires, evacuation procedures and available resources.
- WHA Hospitals – All hospitals in the WHA network are currently open and serving members. Hospitals affected by the fires may be limiting their services to emergency and inpatient care at this time, and postponing elective services.
- Meritage Medical Network – For up-to-date information on PCPs and hospital availability refer to the Meritage website.
Premium payments – WHA is prepared to work with our impacted groups and individual members who may need assistance with making premium payments for October and November. It is important that members contact our premium billing department to discuss payment alternatives.
