Oscar extends California enrollment deadline until December 31st

Oscar off-exchange enrollment deadline extended until December 31st for January 1, 2016 start date.

Oscar has extended the deadline to enroll into their off-exchange health plans in California until December 31st for a January 1st effective start date. This is in addition to Covered California extending the deadline for enrollment into all on-exchange plans through December 17th. Oscar will offer both the standard benefit design plan offered through Covered California and their non-standard off-exchange benefit design plans for during the extended enrollment period. Health Plans purchased directly from Oscar are not eligible for the Advance Premium Tax Credit subsidy to lower the monthly health insurance premium.

Oscar announced they will accept off-exchange enrollments for March 1 effective date through February 6th.

The deadline’s been extended!

In an agent communication Oscar announced the enrollment extension.

You may already may be aware of the deadline extension, but we’re just sending around a notification to let everyone know that Covered California has extended the December 15 deadline to December 17 for plans starting on January 1!

And remember, you can still enroll your clients in off-exchange Oscar plans through December 31 for a January 1 effective date!

Simple Series of Oscar plans

The Bronze Simple plan does have copays for labs and generic drugs. The Simple+ Silver, Gold and Platinum have copayments for specialist visits and urgent care. However, Tier 1 generic drugs are $0 cost all the Simple and Simple+ plans excluding the Bronze offering. Another interesting aspect of the Simple series of plans is that there is a $0 copay for primary care visits, OBGYN, and mental health visits for the Silver through Platinum plans.
