Cigna Health Insurance
Cigna notified agents on June 22nd that they will no longer offer some individual and family plan products in California for the 2018 plan year. Members currently enrolled in these plans will have coverage through the end of 2017. During open enrollment affected members will have the opportunity to enroll another health plan offered in their area. Cigna individual and family health plans were never offered through Covered California.
Cigna offered their EPO and PPO plan products primarily in the Bay Area and Southern California.

As you may be aware, Cigna Individual and Family Plans has notified California regulators that Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company will not offer or renew Cigna LocalPlusIN (EPO), California LocalPlus (PPO), or California LocalPlusIN (EPO) medical plans in California in 2018.
As in past years, Cigna’s participation in the individual market is contingent upon local market conditions and approval of our regulatory filings. Our decisions are based on where we can provide customers with access to the right combination of affordability, quality, and overall value.
This action has no impact on:
2017 Cigna Individual and Family medical plans
Cigna Individual and Family stand-alone dental plans (insured by Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company)
We understand that this action will cause disruption for you and your customers, and we will assist you and your customers through this transition.
Impacted customers will be notified by mail on or before July 1, 2017.
