Cigna discontinues some California health plans for 2016

Cigna will be discontinuing some off-exchange plans the following plans and moving current members to an equivalent health plan. The marketing term “myCigna” preceding 2015 non-standard benefit design plans is being dropped on some plans, but the overall benefit design will remain the same. For example, myCigna California Platinum will now be called Cigna California Platinum.

myCigna Health Savings Silver 3400 will become Cigna Health Savings 2700

myCigna Health Flex Silver 2750 will become Cigna Health Flex 3000

myCigna Health Flex Silver 5000 will become Cigna Health Flex 3000

myCigna Health Flex Gold 1000 will become Cigna California Gold

Cigna will offer four non-standard benefit designs plans in the Bronze and Silver metal tier levels for 2016.

A notable difference between Cigna’s non-standard plans and the standard benefit design plan is that the non-standard plans will not have the Prescription Drug Cap found in the standard benefit design plans.

Cigna will offer health plans off the exchange in select counties in California. In the Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Francisco and San Mateo. Southern California: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego.

Cigna health plans will use the Localplus PPO Network. In Northern California that will include major hospitals and physician groups (subject to change)-
